Do I Need Help with Financial Planning?
You may not.
My father,on the left, was born in 1915. He has never needed formal financial planning.
He is healthy and living well with his Illinois State pension. After WWII he got his degree with the GI Bill, was always employed, lived within his means, and stayed married. He still saves regularly(!).
He grew up during The Great Depression. He established good financial habits during those hard times.
Our times are very different:
- We live longer in retirement. This requires more assets.
- We change jobs more often. We often change careers.
- Raising and education children is more expensive.
- Divorces, single parenthood and blended families are common.
- Many people save little or nothing until their forties or fifties.
- Our taxes become more complicated every year.
- Pensions are no longer common. Workplace tax-deferred retirement plans do not have a guaranteed return. Knowledge and effort are required to manage them well.
- More people are single or in non-marriage relationships.
All these issues make financial planning more important and necessary.
Supple financial planning can help you to set your goals and work towards them with confidence.
